I just realized that somehow, 10 months have passed since i last wrote a journal entry, even though i have been uploading deviations at a steady pace during that time. As it's been almost 10 months since i last updated, i guess quite a lot of things have happened meanwhile...

First off, i finished moving into my first own apartment together with my girlfriend around the time of the last journal update. Not much more than a month after that, we decided, after many months of wishful thinking, that we would get a puppy and soon after, we had a tiny, clumsy fluffball named Riki in our new home, spending most of his time napping somewhere, trying to play with our older dog Jasu or just generally being super adorable. Some photos that i've submitted here on DA shows him during a few different stages of his life, among other things playing with his sister and dear friend, Amara. Riki has now grown to what is pretty much his full adult size and has developed a lot in some ways, but he still has a lot of his adorable puppy traits left in him, at almost ten months of age. About two months ago, i also took him to a dog show. Not to try to win the whole thing or anything like that, more because i thought it'd be a fun and useful experience for both of us, and so it was!

Personally, i have, as anyone can probably tell from my deviations, become a bit less interested in modelling 3D scenes and that sort of things, and instead become a lot more obsessed with my camera and photography in general. Even though some of the deviations i've submitted are more in the vein of snapshots of Riki playing with his sister, i think i can definitely see a progression in my skills behind the camera when i look at pictures taken a year ago, and compare them to my most recent ones.

Me and my girlfriend celebrated our two year anniversary a few months ago, which i want to mention as she is, without a shred of doubt, the most important person in my life. I did not exactly have money to throw any huge celebratory event for the occasion, but our anniversary was definitely a very meaningful day for us both.

My studies, which i mentioned briefly in the last journal entry, have more or less stood still for a long time, and after some majorly disappointing realizations about my university i am seriously considering getting a fresh start at a different school. So, not much more to update on regarding that.

Joensuu, the town where we live since last September has finally come out (at least somewhat) of its grey, monotone, depressing shell that haunted it for a good 5 months or so and become really (relatively speaking) colorful and alive, with regular markets in the town square, outdoor service on cafes, bars and restaurants and a crazy amount of people in the streets. Now, that hardly makes it my favorite town in the world, actually pretty far from it, but it is nice to see that it is at least a bit nicer here in the summer. Also, this coming weekend, we're going to Ilosaarirock, one of the oldest and biggest rock festivals in Finland, which just happens to take place here in Joensuu, so i'm really looking forward to that. Unless some big grumpy guy in a security guard outfit takes my camera away from me upon entering the festival, i will try to get some shots there and upload it to DA.

My day rhythm has not exactly become any more normal during this time and i haven't slept nearly enough lately, so at the moment, i think this is all i have the energy to write updates about. Hopefully i'll actually keep my journal a bit more updated than posting once every 10 months from now on, even though i'm pretty sure that barely anyone out there is reading this, but it feels good to just write stuff down every now and then.
